My mosaic works focus on natural themes, using combinations of foraged stones and glass. The stones I forage are found on hikes in the mountains of Ticino, or along the shores of Lago Maggiore where I live. I find my joy and inspiration in nature, andI appreciate the variations in texture and color that the combination of stone and glass bring to a work. Each piece of glass and each stone is hand-cut in my atelier, using the ancient technique of “hammer and hardy” . The method of mosaics is appealing to me because I appreciate the creation of a new beautiful work out of things that are “broken”. This is the pathway to a fulfilling life–finding the beauty in the aftermath of life’s disruptions and brokenness.
